CM orders MBI new management to investigate RM2.6 million compensation

SHAH ALAM, 20 Nov: The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, ordered the new management of Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI), which will report in starting December 1, to investigate the audit report regarding the RM2.6 million compensation issue.

Mohamed Azmin said that there was abuse of power in giving the RM2.6 million in compensation to eight former assistants of Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who is also a board member of MBI.

He said that the offense committed by the previous management of MBI is clear and does not only involve the compensation but also the payment process.

“Yes, it is very clear that there was abuse of power, not only in terms of the amount but also the compensation payment process.

“The disbursement of compensation to the eight board members of MBI was done immediately and is is clearly dubious,” he said when met after the Selangor Economic Action Council (MTES) meeting today.

Mohamed Azmin said that if the investigation finds that there was indeed violation and abuse of power, he will not hesitate to take legal action.

“We will not hide the facts and we will not compromise with the misuse of power.

“Everything should be resolved according to process. Give me time to solve this crisis,” he said.

Mohamed Azmin said that he has appointed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Chief Operations Officer (COO) who are professionals to lead the new management of MBI.

He said that he refused to appoint politicians to manage MBI because the assets are too great.
