Where did the Selangor water restructuring agreement copy go?

SHAH ALAM, 3 Oct: The announcement by the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, that the State Government does not have the copy of the Selangor water restructuring agreement was shocking.

The Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya Utara, Tony Pua, said that only with the copy, the State Government can make a decision on the next move to protect the interests of the people.

According to him, there is no national security reason to not reveal the contents of the agreement because it is said to only cover the restructuring.

“It makes no sense how the entire state government, including the Exco members under Khalid Ibrahim’s administration, did not know why the state government did not have a copy of the agreement.

“We call on the Federal Government to immediately submit the agreement to the State Government so that the stat can know their rights and responsibilities,” he said in a press statement.

He said that the Federal Government is urged to reveal the contents of the agreement which was signed three weeks before Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim resigned as the Chief Minister.

He said that he supported Mohamed Azmin’s statement for the restructuring agreement with the Federal Government to be disclosed to the public.

“Did the former Chief Minister mistakenly take the mysterious water agreement when packing up his personal belongings before leaving CM’s office?” he asked, puzzled that the copy of the agreement was also not kept by the State Government Secretary.

The agreement was signed by Abdul Khalid on September 12 and the documents are subject to the Official Secrets Act.

Yesterday, Azmin wanted the State Government to apply to the Federal Government so that the agreement will be publicly disclosed in a week.
