Abdul Khalid leaves it to the Palace on new CM issue

SEPANG, 8 Sept: Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim will leave it completely to the discretion of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, regarding the issue on the appointment of the new Chief Minister of Selangor, as it is now in his judgement.

He said that he was instructed to not issue any statements on the matter and he has been advised to focus on state administration.

“I have been asked to not issue any statement regarding this matter because I was advised that it would be better for the Chief Minster to focus on state administration rather than be involved in the discussion on the position of the new Chief Minister,” he said.

He said this during a press conference after inaugurating the Pemsea Network of Local Governments Forum 2014 at Avani Sepang Gold Coast Resort this morning.

Abdul Khalid’s statement was following allegations that PKR did not understand the Selangor Constitution by only nominating Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the Chief Minister despite being ordered by the Palace to send more than two names.

In the meantime, Abdul Khalid also refused to comment when asked about the statement by the Palace today on the issue of DAP and PKR not respecting the Institution of Rulers by sending only one name.

“I cannot comment because it is an opinion and all my views take into account the decorum and customs of the state,” he added.

Early this morning, in a letter signed by the Selangor Sultan’s private secretary, Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani, informed the Sultan’s disappointment with DAP and PKR’s move against the Sultan’s orders on August 27.
