MBSA establishes Task Force to eliminate Aedes, public needs to cooperate in helping

SHAH ALAM, 14 Aug: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has taken progressive steps to establish a Task Force to Fight Dengue to tackle the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes.

Mayor Datuk Mohd Jaafar Mohd Atan said that the team formed will perform comprehensive inspection and monitoring, including at Aedes hotspots.

For that, he reminded the public to cooperate towards the success of these efforts for safety and tranquillity.

“The problem of dengue is not just an MBSA problem, but it is a problem that we must tackle together with the culture of cleanliness.

“We are not asking to take care of roads, but drains are enough if the public takes time to take care of residential or dormitory compounds,” he said.

He said this at the Dengue Task Force launch event which was held at the Pangsapuri Perdana Hall in Section 13 today.

At the event, he also presented caps and vests to all members of the Task Force, in addition to giving banners to the heads of departments.

Since the beginning of the year until August 9, areas under the administration of MBSA recorded five deaths due to dengue from the overall 5,602 positive dengue cases recorded.

The figure shows an increase by many times over compared to the same period last year, which recorded 734 cases.

In addition to the establishment of the Task Force, until now, MBSA has performed 77,041 premises control activities and 624,022 fogging operations.

Among the areas identified as hotspots are Dataran Automobil, Section 15, Pangsapuri Perdana, Section 13 and Subang Murni, Section U5.
