KUALA LUMPUR, 23 July: The Pakatan Rakyat Leadership Council has received the proposal from PKR to change the Selangor Chief Minister and subsequently nominate Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
This was decided in a meeting held at the Opposition Leader’s Office in Parliament.
The PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said that PAS and DAP will respectively meet about this matter after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
“DAP and PAS will bring this matter to the respective parties’ highest level meetings and make a decision in the near future.
“DAP and PAS in general respects the principle of nomination for the position of the Chief Minister of Selangor from PKR,” he told reporters in a joint statement with the PAD Deputy President, Mohamad Sabu and the DAP Secretary General, Lim Guan Eng.
The Opposition Leader added that this matter is being discussed with the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid, in a proper manner.
Touching on his role in Selangor, Anwar said that he may no longer act as the State’s Economic Advisor if Wan Azizah is appointed as the new Chief Minister.
“I do not think I would act if Wan Azizah becomes Chief Minister,” he said.
