Confident of his innocence motivates CM to lodge MACC report against himself

SHAH ALAM, 6 Aug: Typically, reports to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) are done to accuse another individual of committing the offense of corruption, not the other way around.

However, the Office of the Chief Minister of Selangor, through the Chief Minister’s Private Secretary, Mohd Yasid Bidin, did so against Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim with the knowledge of the Chief Minister because he is certain of his innocence.

“This is a letter of complaint about misconduct said to have been done by the Chief Minister. As the Chief Minister’s officer, I feel responsible to submit a report to the MACC.

“Tan Sri is confident he is in the right. This has been submitted to the MACC to determine whether the allegations are true or not,” he said at a press conference at the Selangor MACC office today.

Such action is believed to be the first time done by a politician in this country.

The action was done after the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Secretary-General, Datuk Saifuddin Nasution, made an open allegation against Abdul Khalid through a 91-page note on ‘misconduct’.

However, Saifuddin did not report to the MACC despite being suggested by Abdul Khalid.

The contents of the 91-page note were handed over to the MACC to enable the commission to carry out investigations.

Apart from Yasid, also present was the Chief Minister’s Political Secretary, Azman Bidin Mustapha Talib.
