SHAH ALAM, 1 Aug: “I will fulfil the last wishes of my late husband. He wants me to continue his wish, which was unfulfilled, to print copies of the Mushaf Tartil to be given to hut schools, orphanages and mosques, as well as suraus,” said the widow of the State Mosque Imam Besar, the late Ahmad Mustafa Al-Muqri.
Nurazira Ahmad Bashir, 35, a mother of five children, told reporters of her courage in facing this trial.
However, to share the story of her family, she thinks that it should be kept a secret because she could not continue the conversation as she is still grieving.
In the incident on June 9, the late Ahmad Mustafa breathed his last breath at the age of 39 at the National Heart Institute due to heart complications after six days being admitted at the institute.
He was appointed as the Imam Besar of the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque since 2008 and many improvements were made, including programmes to enliven the mosque.
Recalling her husband’s wishes, Nurazira, or Kak Zira, said that before the late Ahmad passed on, he was very busy with the Mushaf Tartil script and CD recording, prayers and recitations.
“When I saw the VCD title, ‘Gifts for loved ones’, it really touched my heart. It seemed like he knew he would be going away.
“Before he passed away, apart from asking me to look after the children well, he said asked me to continue his desire to reprint the Mushaf Tartil.
“As for the VCDs, I may also be able to sell it as an income to support my family,” she said.
In addition to that, Nurazira said that when her late husband was still alive, he prioritised congregational prayers with the family.
“Caring about the five daily prayers was also among his last words. During his lifetime, he placed great emphasis on prayer,” she said.
She said that Ahmad Mustafa was also a very loving and gentle father with all their children.
“When he came home from the mosque or any other place, the first thing before setting foot in the house was to ask where his children were. That is what makes him very close with them,” she said.
Ending the conversation, Nurazira said that she is thankful that all her children are so brave with the departure of their father.
“Alhamdulillah, my children can take it,” she said.
