State Government to focus on repairing 1,717 PPR homes

SHAH ALAM, 19 June: The State Government is focused on repairing a total of 1,717 units of People’s Housing Project (PPR) homes in four areas in Selangor.

The Executive Councillor in charge of Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlers, Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that the cost to repair each home is RM3,000 and will be fully shouldered by the subsidiary company of the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS).

However, he said that the LPHS subsidiary company is only able to repair 20 units each month because they depend on the rent payment for the reparation process.

“LPHS has been directed to prepare the paperwork and to inform the Executive Council to issue funds to accelerate the reparation work.

“We need to do it (repair) immediately so that the houses can be filled as soon as possible,” he said during the winding up session at the Selangor State Assembly yesterday.

In the meantime, Iskandar, who is also the Assemblyman for Cempaka, Said that the rental rate for PPR residents will be maintained at RM124 per month if they earn an income below RM1,500.

“During the last assembly session, I have already informed that those earning RM1,500 a month only need to pay a rent of RM124 a month, while those earning more than that pay a rent of RM250,” he said.
