Wan Azizah: Family has been Defamed for 16 Years, How Would You Feel if You Were in My Place?

SHAH ALAM, 9 Apr: The Selangor State Assembly (DNS) debate session today stole the limelight when the Assemblywoman for Kajang, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, spoke for the first time, debating on the speech by the Sultan of Selangor.

She again defended the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader, who is also her husband, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who continues to be a target of attacks by various parties, including the Selangor State Assembly Opposition in the Defamation II case, MH370 and disputing his role as the Selangor Economic Advisor.

Wan Azizah calmly asked the council if they would put themselves in her family’s place, which has continuously been the victim of persecution since 16 years ago.

“If you were in my place, how would you feel? I have children and a family,” she said, referring to the Defamation II case thrown at Anwar.

In her speech, she also touched on the praise expressed by the Sultan of Selangor who was happy with the six percent increase in Selangor’s economy, as commanded by the Sultan in his speech on 7 April.

She said that the figure is clear evidence that Anwar has carried out his job as the State Economic Advisor in ensuring that Selangor’s economy has grew, despite being paid a salary of RM1.

In addition to that, Wan Azizah also asked the State Government to take proactive steps to increase its efforts to ensure that the solid waste management can be improved.

This is because she has personally seen heaps of rubbish when she was campaigning in Kajang and believes that the Local Authority can be strengthened by the power possessed by the State Government.

She added that a short-term solution to the traffic problem in Kajang should be done while waiting for the completion of the MRT project.
