LZS Receives RM20.5 Million in Business Zakat

SHAH ALAM, 4 Apr: The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) today received business Zakat contributions amounting to RM20.5 million from Lembaga Tabung Haji (LTH) and Kumpulan DRB Hicom for the 2013 financial year end.

LTH, represented by the Managing Director who is also the Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Paduka Ismee Ismail, handed over the RM12.5 million cheque while DRB Hicom, represented by the Group Managing Director, Tan Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil, presented the RM8 million cheque.

The LTH Corporate Communications Manager, Zuraini Khalil, said that LTH’s payment to LZS is the highest and covers 27 percent compared to other states.

“The contribution to LZS this year recorded an increase of 14 percent compared to the RM10.9 million for the year 2012.

“The increase is in line with the overall revenue performance of LTH which was encouraging over the past year,” she said.

Both the payments were received by His Royal Highness (Duli Yang Maha Mulia) the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, at a ceremony held at the Bukit Kayangan Palace.

Also present was the Chairman of LZS, Tan Sri Syed Anwar Syed Putra Jamalullail, the Chairman of the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS), Datuk Seri Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa and the State Mufti, Datuk Setia Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahid.

Last year, LZS received business Zakat amounting to RM85 million for the 2012 financial year end and is the second highest Zakat group receive after the income Zakat.
