RM15,074.85 Per Month, Sincerely from CM to TAWAS

SHAH ALAM, 1 Mar: Despite receiving a salary increase of almost a hundred percent, the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, decided to contribute all of the increase to the Selangor Children’s Heritage Fund (TAWAS).

Citing a report from the Malaysian Insider, an officer in the Chief Minister’s Office confirmed that matter and said that the amount that Khalid contributes is RM15,074.85.

“It is true, he donates the increase in the Chief Minister’s salary to the Tawas fund,” said the officer.

Yesterday, some Facebook users began to share the picture of an official letter dated 28 January 2014, signed by Abdul Khalid to the Selangor Financial Officer, Datuk Noordin Sulaiman.

“I hereby contribute the entire increase in salary of RM15,074.85 to the Selangor Children’s Heritage Fund (Tawas) through my payroll deductions beginning January 2014 and onwards,” the official letter said.

The letter also said that the State Government Executive Council Meeting on 8 January 2014, only approved a cut of RM4,250 only from the entire RM29,250 of the Chief Minister’s salary.

However, Abdul Khalid voluntarily contributed the whole of his salary increase to Tawas and only receives his original salary prior to the increase; RM14,175.15.

This revelation received many positive reactions from many people on Facebook, among them the Central Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS).

“Tan Sri Abdul Khalid is the best leader. When PKR wants to rid of Tan Sri Khalid, please no not defame,” said HairiReallyme.

“Do not change the CM. Keep Tan Sri Abdul Khalid. We want more leaders like this,” said Rashyad Afham Feroz.

At the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) session last November, the Selangor State Legislative Assembly approved a salary increase for he Chief Minister, Exco members, the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker and all Assemblymen, which they began receiving in January 2014.
