Gedung Penawar Handles 4 People’s Dialysis Centres, Help the Underprivileged

KLANG, 24 Jan: With the concept of ‘the able should help the weak’, a medical consultation company, Gedung Penawar Sdn Bhd, is helping in the state government’s efforts to handle four People’s Dialysis Centres (PDR) in Selangor.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Dr Mohd Padzil Daros, said that his company is responsible in handling PDRs in Ampang, Sementa, Taman Medan and Lembah Keramat, over the past three years.

Padzil said that so far, the PDR in Ampang has 10 dialysis machines and 40 patients, while there are eight machines (32 patients) in Sementa, eight machines in Taman Medan (24 patients) and eight machines in Lembah Keramat (21 patients).

He said that all patients receiving treatment at PDRs have been given service for free and there should be some future plans with the state government to improve its service.

“I believe that the services provided can be improved further with the support from the state government, which practices the concept of a welfare state, and that we can help more patients because the cost for kidney disease is certainly high,” he said.

He said this when receiving a visit from the Executive Councillor in charge of Health, Entrepreneur Development, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Daroyah Alwi at the PDR in Sementa today.

At the same time, Gedung Penawar Sdn Bhd is a company with experience in medical consultation and has hemodialysis centres across the country.

Meanwhile, Dr Daroyah said that the state government intends to increase PDRs across Selangor in the future.

“We plan to establish PDRs in other areas because the four existing PDRs are only in the Klang Valley,” she said.

The Assemblywoman for Sementa said that the state government should first look into opening dialysis services openly to all citizens of Selangor because it takes up a huge cost.

For the dialysis treatment in some charging centres, patients pay between RM110 to RM300 for each treatment and they are also required to undergo it three times a week.
