Selangor Women’s Contribution Scheme to be Implemented in 2015

SHAH ALAM, 10 Apr: The Selangor Women’s Contribution Scheme is expected to be implemented starting next year after some date is finalised.

The Executive Councillor for Welfare and Women’s Affairs, Rodziah Ismail, said that currently, the State Government is in the process of providing information and finalising some data.

She said that this includes the provision of information regarding the structure of the payment mechanism, the amount of payment, the total provision and the implementation mode for operating.

“We want to provide a social network to families and a welfare fund to help non-working women in particular, especially single mothers, to ensure that the fate of this group is taken care of.

“There are four modules which we will examine, among them being is they will receive contributions like the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and if the money can be used when they are in their golden years,” she said, answering a question from Haniza Talha (PKR-Taman Medan) at the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) session today.

The contribution scheme is one of the matters contained in the Pakatan Women’s Agenda promised before the 13th General Election (GE13) and is an effort to acknowledge women who have no place to depend on.
