Anwar Supports Cooperation to the Water Industry

KAJANG, 3 Mar: The Selangor State Economic Advisor, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, fully supports the cooperation between the Selangor Government and the Federal Government in the restructuring of the water industry.

He dismissed assumptions that he is being sour faced with the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, and does not know the contents of the signed Memorandum of Understanding.

“I fully support the policy. I was involved; it is just that when people ask me about the MOU, I said that I really did not see the MOU.

“I am not Umno, (I) need to look at it (the MOU) first,” he said in a speech at Taman Saga Emas in Kajang yesterday.

On Tuesday, the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, represented the Federal Government, while the Selangor Government, represented by Khalid, signed the MOU in Putrajaya, witnessed by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Quoting Malaysia Kini, Anwar has already been briefed about the MOU yesterday by an officer sent by Khalid.

Anwar, who returned from Japan yesterday, again denied not being informed about the restructuring.

“Khalid sends his officer to explain and update me regarding information on this issue (water) all the time.

“Attempts to say that we are fighting are just created,” he said.
