Khalid Samad: Ministers Visit Shah Alam to Meet ‘Buddies’, Discuss Strategies to Sabotage Selangor?

SHAH ALAM, 31 Jan: Several ministers from Barisan Nasional (BN) allegedly met with certain parties believed to be moving to sabotage the Selangor government.

The meeting took place as soon as the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was announced as the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) candidate to defend the Kajang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat in the by-election.

The Member of Parliament for Shah Alam, Khalid Abdul Samad, said that apart from believing that the sabotage will involve the Special Branch police, as well as some parties that hold key positions in the state government civil servant hierarchy and state government subsidiary companies.

“I was in Shah Alam the day Anwar was announced as the candidate and I know that evening, several ministers and their entourage came here to meet with certain parties whom we need not mention their names.

“I live in Shah Alam and I know it happened. This means that plans to defeat Anwar are being carefully arranged by the opposition, BN. I urge PR to face it by using Kajang as a referendum to prove the people’s rejection of Umno,” he said in a press statement at his office yesterday.

Khalid expects that the sabotage will involve actions to link state government projects, land issue and so on, which may affect the smoothness of the administration, thus creating a feeling of lack in confidence among voters in Selangor.

Meanwhile, commenting on the same issue, Khalid believed that Anwar’s participation as an Assemblyman will strengthen the Selangor PR Government in facing efforts to sabotage from within.

“Now, Anwar has no locus standing to meet with District Officers or any important members of the civil service in Selangor. But if he wins, he can meet with District Officers or anyone to block sabotaging efforts by BN,” he said.
