KLANG, 17 Feb: The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that he did not influence the former cabinet minister, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, to contest in the Kajang by-election to maintain his power as Chief Minister.
He said that Zaid’s statement is based on the political freedom of democracy which provides freedom in giving views and opinions of individuals.
Previously, there were allegations by some people that Abdul Khalid allegedly influenced Zaid to prevent the PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, from taking over as Chief Minister.
“This is how politics gives freedom to them to voice their views and also their involvement.
“I know that this is politics, we cannot determine if it is the actions of a group or an individual in terms of the democracy and political upheaval in Malaysia,” he said in a press statement after launching the Camera Security System (CCTV) at the Hamzah Hall, the Klang Municipal Council.
Commenting on the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN), Abdul Khalid said that there have been a lot of speculation and predictions on the claim.
However, he said that the dissolution of a DUN is not like a play.
