He said that he and his family have gone through bitter times when they were evicted from their rented home for failure to pay their rental.

“The last time we were evicted, I had to take my wife and children to stay at my in-laws home, but the question of until when remained unknown.

“One day when the old have gone, other things need to be figured out when the question of the right to the house becomes a dispute among siblings.

“So, there is no amount of gratitude which I can express now because finally, we have our own home,” said the army veteran.

Rosli said that he last worked as a security guard but was eventually fired because he had health problems; diabetes, heart problems and also high blood pressure.

“Since then, no one wanted to hire me, to a point where the house I bought had to be auctioned off and we finally could only rent with my pension,” he explained.

He was accompanied by his youngest child and was among the 43 recipients of new houses at the Key Presentation Ceremony which was held at the Klang District and Land Office Multipurpose Hall.

The ceremony was inaugurated by the Deputy Executive Councillor in charge of Health, Plantation Workers, Poverty and Caring Government, Tiew Way Keng, who also celebrated 21 recipients of the House Reparation Assistance Programme.

Meanwhile, the recipient of the House Reparation Programme, Zarina Mahmud, 39, hopes that welfare programmes organised by the State Government will continue to develop and improved for the benefit of the people.

“For example, programmes such as this are very good because if the part of house damaged is not repaired, it would adversely affect occupants.

“It is only hoped that the State Government would quicken the process of application for reparation because if a damage is left long, it will make the damage worse, and this will increase the reparation costs,” said Zarina who received on behalf of her mother in-law.
