Selangor AMK Worried About the Water Services Acquisition Issue, Giat Mara Issue Manipulated

SHAH ALAM, 20 Jan: The Selangor Keadilan Youth (AMK) today submitted a memorandum to the Selangor government on the issue of the water services acquisition and the closure of the Selayang Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) Giat Centre.

The Selangor AMK Chief, Azmizam Zaman Huri, said that clarification on the issue is important because the people are confused with the state government’s decision which has been manipulated by the mainstream media.

He said that AMK wants to be the bridge between the state government and the people to provide clarification of both issues.

“AMK feels that we should help the state government clarify this issue to the people who are starting to get confused.

“Especially when the issue is being taken advantage of by media owned by Umno-BN to show that they are the alleged champion on the issue,” he said.

He and several members of the Selangor AMK delivered the memorandum at the State Secretary’s Building (SUK), and it was in turn received by the Chief Minister’s Political Secretary, Azman Abidin.

The memorandum was a follow-up to the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Central AMK Council Meeting on 17 January which was chaired by the Central AMK Chief, Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.

Among other things, the memorandum asked for certainty of the water services acquisition by the National Water Management Commission (SPAN) which would affect the free water programme implemented by the state government since 2008.

Also raised was further developments regarding the planned allotment of water shares to the people of Selangor, as promised during the last election campaign.

“With regards to the closure of the Giat Mara Centre in Selayang, we are also seeking clarification and immediate action to address and manage the perception of the people.

“Even more so for the youth and Malay voters who are so sensitive on the issue,” he said.
