‘Office of the People’ Programme Enhance Level of Public Services

SHAH ALAM, 19 Nov: The State Government will implement the ‘Office of the People’ programme in effort to enhance the level of public services, to be innovative and proactive that is people-centred, in line with international standards and practices.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that the effort is the state government’s vision to no longer have long lines at counters of the state government and state agencies.

He said that the people of Selangor can choose whether to deal online or attend the ‘Customer’s Day’ programme which will be organised by government departments or state agencies close to their neighbourhood.

“The state government will also continue to strive to ensure that civil servants in Selangor are professional, transparent, responsible, and have high integrity at all times.

“It is the long-term intention of the state government for civil servants to accept the concept of a salary increase and the giving of bonuses, in stages, based on performance excellence, based of efficiency and effectiveness, in line with international standards and practices,

He said this during his speech at the tabling of the Budget 2014, themed ‘An Economic and High Impact Budget for the People’s Well-being’ at the State Legislative Assembly today.

Abdul Khalid said that the state government has taken the first step to digitise all documentation of the Selangor Land and Mines Office (PTGS) so that it can be accessed online quickly.

He said that the state government will also expand the effort to district offices in addition to developing a network that connects the District Land Office (PTD), the PTGS, the State Secretary Office and government-linked companies (GLCs), so that real-time information can be shared online so that strategic decisions can be implemented better.

“All this is part of the state government’s ongoing effort to provide a conducive environment as an enabler and facilitator toward forming a dynamic, competitive and resilient economy and society,” he said.
