Kajang By-Election: Muar SAMM Proposes for CM to be Election Director

SHAH ALAM, 1 Feb: The Muar SAMM proposed for the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, to be the Election Director for the Kajang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) by-election.

The Muar SAMM Coordinator, Ahmad Anwar Asyraf, said that SAMM also fully supports the nomination of the PKR Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as the candidate for the Kajang DUN by-election.

He said that the people in Kajang should be proud because they have the opportunity to receive the services of a statesman who is not only recognised in the local political arena, but also in the international community.

“The Muar SAMM and its allies also pledge and is prepared to mobilise our machinery to Kajang to help defend the Kajang DUN, like in the last general election,” he said in a press statement.

He said that in the political world of Parliamentary Democracy, the vacancy of a legislative seat, whether in Parliament or State Assemblies, is not an abnormality.

“Barisan Nasional should not be arrogant of this action by calling it an undemocratic action.

“How can you express the words ‘undemocratic’ when previously you (BN) did something much worse in Perak?” he said.

He said, in the context of national politics, there have been several vacancies of legislative seats on grounds of tactical strategy of a political party coalition.

He said that the Muar SAMM, as a youth movement, is sick of the Barisan Nasional administrative regime in understanding justification of Anwar’s unpopular move in the Kajang DUN issue.

“PKR and Anwar’s actions are better as they are returning the people of Kajang the right to make a choice and not by forcing them to accept actions or decisions taken,” he said.
