Anwar Can Hold Office as President of PKR

SHAH ALAM, 31 Mar: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim can hold office as the President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) despite being sentenced recently.

In a statement, Anwar’s lawyer, Radzlan Jalaludin, informed that speculation that Anwar is at risk of disqualification by the Registrar of Societies following his sentence recently is incorrect.

“Despite being convicted and the decision is still pending appeal at the Federal Court, Anwar is still allowed to hold office as the President of PKR.

“This is in accordance with Section 9A(4) of the Societies Act 1966 which allows him to be exempt from the application of such disqualification,” the statement said.

In fact, Radzlan stressed, there is no excuse or reason for the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to reject or prevent Anwar from using provisions of this law to lead KEADILAN as President.

The wait of the people, especially PKR members, for over 15 years will end after Anwar Ibrahim nominated himself to run for President of PKR in the PKR 2014 Election.

His authority and leadership is believed to be able to lead PKR as a party of the future.
