Foreign Investors will Enjoy Orang Asli, Bumiputera Benefits

AMPANG JAYA, 13 Apr: Foreign investors who invest in Malaysia will receive equivalent benefits and privilege enjoyed by the Orang Asli through the government’s agenda to help the natives of this country.

The Malay Economic Action Council Research Director, Azlan Awang, said that this is because the in the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA), there is a policy that every foreign investor has to be given the same standards in any best government policy or agenda in developing he economy and protecting the rights any race.

“It will be difficult for us to carry out Bumiputra programmes because we will be sued. If there is a little bit of diplomacy in the government, companies will sue us. If we carry out an agenda to help the Bumiputera, we will be sued on the basis of equality of business freedom.

“In this policy, all foreign country investors have to be given equal rights with the citizens of this country on the policy of the best privileges. In Malaysia, the policy to protect the best rights for the people is for the Orang Asli and for the Bumiputeras.

“So these foreign investors, despite having just one share here, are considered investors and they will enjoy all the privileges enjoyed by the Orang Asli or Bumiputeras. If the government does not give this (privileges), the company can sue,” he said.

Azlan said this at the ‘People’s Discourse: Effects of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) towards the housing sector’ programme at the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) Auditorium yesterday.

He said that this situation will cause plans to help increase the economy of the Orang Asli and Bumiputeras, as per policy, to be underdeveloped.

He said that the government will not be able to prevent this from happening if the government continues their intention to sign the TPPA, thus causing companies owned by citizens to be threatened.
