SHAH ALAM, 22 Apr: The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (BERSIH 2.0) supports the assembly to reject the Goods and Services Tax (GST) which will be held in various locations around Kuala Lumpur on May 1.
According to a joint statement by the BERSIH 2.0 Steering Committee today, the working population is also the oppressed group in many issues, including the GST issue and issues of election being marred by fraud.
“Labour Day grew out of an event to commemorate the struggle for a good working environment to an opportunity to address issues that affect the lives of workers.
“So this year’s assembly also urges for free and fair elections, as well as other basic freedoms, especially freedom of the press, which is one of the core issue of BERSIH 2.0,” according to that joint statement with the Chairman of BERSIH 2.0, Maria Chin Abdullah.
Quoting from the statement, BERSIH 2.0 will also join the assembly at the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) building before marching to Dataran Merdeka with participants of the assembly.
“We urge all people, as citizens and as workers, to come to this assembly and demand for workers’ rights to be developed,” she said.
