PR Mobilises People to Oppose GST on May 1 in KL

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 Apr: Pakatan Rakyat is mobilising the people to assemble massively to oppose the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on May 1 at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.

PAS Information Chief, Datuk Mahfuz Omar, said that PAS is providing two buses in each parliamentary area to take supporters to participate in the People’s Assembly to object to the implementation of the GST.

He said that the area under him, the Pokok Sena constituency, has allocated five buses while it is understood that the Sungai Petani parliamentary constituency is providing 10 buses.

He said that the assembly to object to the GST is a peaceful assembly which has been previously organised and he urged the authorities to not worry about alleged trouble on that day.

“The police do not have to worry, this is a peaceful assembly,” he told the media.

Yesterday, the Coordinator of Youth Solidarity Malaysia (SAMM), Badrul Hisham Shaharin, said that this assembly will gather in four locations before ‘ending’ at Dataran Merdeka.

The assembly named the ‘May 1 Assembly 2014’ will be held at the National Mosque, Brickfields, Sogo and Kuala Lumpur CIty Centre (KLCC) as the initial gathering points before coming together in Dataran Merdeka.
