Free Health Screening, Initiative to Help the Disabled

SHAH ALAM, 8 May: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) organised a health screening, information and advice programme to provide exposure to the importance of health to the people, especially the underprivileged.

Its Deputy Corporate Director, Shahrin Ahmad, said that the programme organised is among others which offer free health services to those earning a low income and those who find it difficult to obtain health advice offered at medical centres.

He said that the people who came also had the opportunity to enjoy free health screenings like eye, teeth and blood examinations, cardiovascular tests, ultrasound, cupping and acupuncture.

“Through these health screening programmes, 500 early participants had a chance of receiving a free supply of vitamins.

“In addition, this programme also included health advice counters on balanced nutrition and an organ donation registration counter,” he said in a press statement today.

The programme managed to attract over 400 local residents and was also attended by the Deputy Mayor of MBSA, Mohtar Hani. It was held at the Beringin Hall in MBSA, Section 24, on May 4.

Shahrin said that the health screening programme implemented is an initiative by MBSA through a smart [partnership with several other parties.

“We work together with the Shah Alam Rotary Club and the Bukit Kiara Sunrise Rotary Club, Lion Group Medical Assistance Fund, KPJ Healthcare Berhad, Taipei TCM Medical Centre Sdn Bhd and the Zone 8 Resident Representative Council (MPP).

“This programme is clearly beneficial to the society and at the same time, help MBSA increase awareness and the quality of health of residents in Shah Alam,” he said.
