Election Complaints Committee: No Complaints against Abdul Khalid

PETALING JAYA, 12 May: The PKR 2014 Election Complaints Committee (ECC) has not received any complaints against the candidate for the party’s Deputy President, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

The ECC Chairman, Abdul Malek Hussain, said that the Central Election Committee (CEC) is always transparent in conducting any investigation on complaints, regardless of the individual named in the complaint.

“As of now, we have not received any complaints against Tan Sri Khalid, specifically as a candidate.

“We welcome any complaints,” said Abdul Malek at a press conference held at the PKR headquarters today.

He also stressed that no money politics have taken place during the PKR 2014 Election campaign period.

He explained that so far, the CEC has received 331 complaints since the beginning of the nomination process until the third week of the polling process yesterday.

He said that of the 331 complaints, the ECC has already solved 241 complaints and found that only 100 complaints were deemed as founded objections, while 141 were rejected.

“This means that 90 other objections are still under investigation before we make a decision.

“These founded objections have implications on candidates, where objections on those who have already been received as candidates will have their candidacy dropped,” added Abdul Malek.

The complaints involve three levels; the nomination, campaign and polling.

Meanwhile, the candidate for the Kuala Selangor PKR Division Chief, S.Manikavasagam, who bumped into Selangor Kini reporters in the vicinity of the PKR headquarters, said that his arrival was because the Party Disciplinary Committee was called.
