SHAH ALAM, 15 May: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) member in the Rembau branch, Badrul Hisham Shaharin, welcomed the firmness shown by the PKR Disciplinary Board and Political Bureau which decided to suspend the membership of five of its members for criticising the party openly regarding the PKR Election 2014.
Badrul Hisham, also known as Chegu Bard, said that the move to make the party look bad on the media will cause enemies outside of PKR to take advantage to attack and weaken the party.
He urged the PKR Disciplinary Board and Political Bureau to also be firm on those who insult the family of the de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and criticise the Selangor Government, opening up a chance for enemies to attack the party.
As a party member, I welcome the decisiveness shown by the Central Election Committee (CEC), the Disciplinary Board and also the Political Bureau. I believe if they had been firm from earlier on, many things could have been avoided.
“I will also try to remind those responsible how the media uses certain quarters, including the media of the enemy, to attack certain parties in the Selangor PKR Government, and in fact, the Election Appeal Committee 2014 Chairman, Datuk Kamarul Baharin had come out in the electronic media asking the Chief Minister to resign.
“I am confident with the decisiveness of the CEC, the PKR Disciplinary Board and Political Bureau to make the same move. I will also send a report on certain groups that not only dispute the CEC, but worse still, insulted the family of the de facto leader, on May 19,” he said when contacted by Selangor Kini today.
He also urged the CEC to create a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) which needs to be followed by its members in responding to complaints received, in addition to urging PKR members to safeguard the party’s integrity by submitting objections through proper channels.
Badrul Hisham said that he had only heard of the latest developments through some friends who could not confirm when asked if his name was also listed as a member who had been suspended, as spread on Facebook.
Earlier, the PKR Disciplinary Board Chairman, Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong, in a media statement, said that the PKR Political Bureau had decided to suspend the membership of eight members of the party until investigations are completed.
Five of them were suspended for criticising the conduct of the PKE Election 2014 openly in the media, one for acting aggressively during the ballot counting, one for threatening and another for forging the signature of the candidate proposer.
