Recognition of PANTAS team needed, improve problem solving of disasters

SHAH ALAM, 17 June: The PANTAS team from the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) received special recognition from the State Government for their proactive measures in addressing fires in the area.

The award was presented by the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, at the Selangor Local Authority Star Rating Appreciation 2014 event at the Silver Jubilee Hall yesterday.

The PANTAS team which consists of 14 members received trophies, certificates and uniforms.

The Executive Councillor for Local Government, Datuk Teng Chang Khim, said that the team deserves recognition due to their active effort in controlling the fire at Johan Setia, which lasted from February 5 to March 14.

He said that the actions of the team should be emulated by all local authorities in the state.

“However, the State Government also wishes to thank the PANTAS teams at other local authorities for being ready to solve disaster problems in the state.

“We hope that all parties will emulate the rapid action shown by this team,” he said.

Teng also informed that the State Government is now detailing guidelines regarding PANTAS teams at every local authority, involving recognition of PANTAS team members.

“These guidelines involve every member of PANTAS who reaches a certain number of hours of service to be given recognition when identified,” he said.
