Former Minister: Muhyiddin Yassin to resign as DPM?

SHAH ALAM, 20 June: Former Information Minister Tan Sri Zainuddin Maidin said that he did not rule out the possibility that the Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, may resign from his position in the near future.

Zainuddin wrote in his blog at zamkata.blogspot.com that rumours are rife throughout the nation saying that Muhyiddin will disappear from the cabinet reshuffling that will be announced soon by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He said that Muhyiddin will resign as Deputy Prime Minister and will be replaced by Datuk Hishammuddin Hussein, the Minister of Defence and Acting Minister of Transport.

“It has been known to the public that Muhyiddin has told his close friends his intention to retire.

“Even though his reason is age, but it is said that he has harboured a deep sense of disappointment over some matters,” he said.

He said that this rumour has spread widely because he has received many inquiries about it; from the north, south and east of the country.

“The two new ministers that will definitely be appointed are from MCA and Gerakan, and the rumour is that the Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, will change ministries to be replaced by the Minister of Tourism, Datuk Nazri Aziz,” he said.
