May 13 Tragedy: MCA & Gerakan scared of criticising Muhyiddin

SHAH ALAM, 8 July: Gerakan and MCA are ‘puppets’ when they could merely agree with the warning of the bloody May 13 event by the Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, said that the MCA and Gerakan leaders’ move proves that they are more concerned about their position in the cabinet that they are willing to gamble the principle of the people’s interests, particularly non-Muslims.

“Liow Tiong Lai (MCA President) and Mah Siew Keong (Gerakan President) have taken the unprincipled stand of supporting Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s racist and extremist threats.

“Malaysians have no hopes of a better future under BN when Ministerial positions are more valuable than respect for justice, freedom and democracy in Malaysia,” he said in a statement today.

On July 5, Muhyiddin claimed that the Maly 13 1969 racial riot incident could repeat, in addition to expressing concern over insults towards Malays and Islam recently.

Meanwhile, the DAP Vice-Chairman, Teresa Kok, urged Muhyiddin to provide evidence to support his statement that Islam and Malays are now threatened.

“Such a statement can actually have the impact of causing racial misunderstanding and inciting public anger and as the nation’s deputy Prime Minister; he should be more responsible and careful with his comments,” Teresa said in a statement..

For the Member of Parliament of Padang Serai, N Surendran, said that Muhyiddin’s obscenity again proves Umno-BN leaders’ immunity from the law.

“Unlike Pakatan leaders; if they criticise government policy, they are immediately called for investigation. Why is the same thing not done to Muhyiddin?” said Surendran, quoted from Keadilan Daily.
