The news portal was there to cover a press conference by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, at 10am, as revealed by the Bernama national news agency yesterday.

The ban included journalists and photographers from Malaysiakini, as well as video journalists from KiniTV, a subsidiary company of Malaysiakini.

The reporters were asked which media they were representing during the registration process at the PMO and were informed that Malaysiakini and The Malaysian Insider were not allowed in.

When it was pointed out that Malaysiakini was allowed into the PMO last Friday for Najib’s press conference, the officer insisted that the ban was effective today.

On June 15, Malaysiakini was also barred from entering the PMD to cover Najib’s press conference on his cabinet expansion.
