‘Rakyat Hakim Negara’ solidarity campaign for Anwar, defend judicial integrity

PETALING JAYA, 14 Oct: The KEADILAN Youth Movement (AMK) launched the ‘Rakyat Hakim Negara’ (People are the nation’s Judges) campaign to plan a mega mobilisation on the day of the Defamation II hearing date involving Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, which is scheduled to take place two days starting October 28.

The campaign which starts today (October 14) will run for 14 days until the date of the hearing which will be held at the Judicial Palace in Putrajaya.

By aiming for 10,000 people to participate in the campaign, the leader, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, said that it is being organised to demand justice for the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR0 de facto leader who is a victim of government voraciousness.

In addition to that, the campaign is also being organised to defend freedom, integrity and the sovereignty of the country’s judicial system.

“This campaign is not just to stand in solidarity for Anwar, but we want to spark public awareness, especially the young generation, to build commitment towards justice and social reform in our country which has various challenges such as the oppression of the Sedition Act, the increase in fuel prices, the GST (goods and services tax) and so on,” he said, quoted from Harakah Daily.

Nik Nazmi said that various programmes have been arranged throughout the period such as flashmobs, a state level talks tour, handing out leaflets and a summit programme on October 28.

“We will start with a flashmob in Kelana Jaya on October 15, followed by Selayang, Puchong, Hulu Selangor and several other locations across the country.

“Apart from that, the leaflets that will be distributed are filled with the on-goings of the case trial,” he said.

He said that a series of talks with Anwar will be held at several locations across the country, which will be announced later.

“We urge the public to attend the summit programme because we are all not exempt from the integrity issue of the national judicial system,” he said.
