Suspended PAS Assemblyman will bring up appeal on Monday

SHAH ALAM, 22 Oct: The Assemblyman for Hulu Kelang, Saari Sungib, will bring up his appeal regarding his membership suspension to the PAS Syura Ulama Council, which he personally submitted to the PAS Office at Jalan Raja Laut, on October 27.

“I have not decided what will be written in the letter of appeal. I have discussed with my lawyer and some close friends to get feedback and their opinions on this suspension issue.

“Insya-Allah at the end of this week I will write the letter of appeal. What I want to write is already in my mind,” he said, quoted from mStar Online.

Saari said that the letter of suspension was received via post on October 13; however he had received a copy through e-mail on October 11.

“In the letter of suspension, my offence was not stated specifically; however I was informed that I committed an offence under Article 82 (6) of the party constitution.

“I am also wondering why the Central PAS Committee did not clearly state the offence. Whatever it is, I will respond to this show-cause letter and submit it this coming Monday,” he said.

On October 11, the Central PAS Committee decided to suspend Saari and Hasnul’s membership for a year effective the same day.

However, the two Assemblymen were given the chance to submit a written appeal within 14 days from the date of suspension to the party’s Syura Ulama Council according to Article 83 (5) of the PAS Constitution Amendment 2011.
