Anwar expresses condolences over the death of King Abdullah

SHAH ALAM, 23 Jan: The Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, expressed his condolences over the death of the King of Saudi Arabia, King Abdullah Abdulaziz yesterday.

“I hope that his spirit will be blessed by Allah,” Anwar said in a media statement.

Anwar said that at the same this he congratulated the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, King Salman Abdulaziz on him being crowned the new King of Saudi Arabia.

“Hopefully the era of his leadership will guide Saudi Arabia, and the Middle East in general, to a better level.

“Together, we pray for the well-being of all,” said Anwar.

King Abdullah died early this morning and his younger brother, also the Crown Prince, Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud, was appointed as the new King of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia dominates 16 percent of the world’s oil reserves.

King Abdullah died when the oil industry is faced with a changing phase that has not happened since several decades ago.
