PKR seeks permission for DSAI to attend House of Representatives session

SHAH ALAM, 25 Feb: PKR will apply for permission so that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is allowed to participate in the House of Representatives session while he is still considered the Member of Parliament for Permatang Pauh.

PKR Vice-President Rafizi Ramli said that Anwar is still the Opposition Leader and should be allowed to be present at the House of Representatives for the Parliamentary session that will begin on March 9.

Rafizi, also the PKR Secretary, said that the party and Anwar’s group of lawyers will deal with the Yang DiPertua of the House of Representatives to obtain the permission.

“Anwar is still an elected representative until the royal pardon that is being requested is completed.

“Although the decision to apply for the pardon was done by Anwar’s family, PKR will still provide full support,” he said in a statement taken from Malaysia Kini.

Rafizi said that the PKR Political Bureau also decided last night to support the action of Anwar’s family with the reason that is faces ‘substantial injustice’ in the case.

“The overall prosecution and judgement against Anwar is seen to have political elements aiming to stop his and Pakatan Rakyat’s advance to Putrajaya.

“Since his imprisonment, the prosecution and judgement has been condemned by the world, with most regarding Anwar as a political prisoner who was judged on his stance and principles and not the offence touted,” he said.
