CM: The cancellation of Kidex takes into account the people’s views

SHAH ALAM, 6 Apr: The decision to cancel the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex) was done after meeting and discussion with Members of Parliament, Assemblymen and the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), as well as residents.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the state government cannot force the people to accept state development, instead they need to listen and find other initiatives to replace Kidex.

“I have listened to feedback from the people, especially in the area of Petaling Jaya, and I have also taken the approach as decreed by the Sultan of Selangor, Members of Parliament, Assemblymen and the LLM.

“After that, the involved party violated the set terms. So what is my mistake? As the head of state, I must be responsible towards stakeholders and listen to the views of the people.

“I am here because of the people, so who said that I betrayed the people’s trust? I am not representing corporations, it happens,” he told reporters when met.

He said that the state government is focusing on a 60:40 development for the public transport system.

“Cancelling the Kidex affects the state? How can we force the people to accept development? We need to listen.

“It’s not a matter of looking for cheap publicity, my duty is to share with the people and discuss with the Malaysian Public Transport Commission (SPAD),” he said.
