Target of 35,000 Selangorku Homes realistic through cooperation from the private sector

SHAH ALAM, 6 Apr: The target of 35,000 units of Selangorku homes by 2018 can be realised with cooperation from private developers.

The Exco for Housing, Building Management and Urban Living, Datuk Iskandar Abd Samad (PAS-Chempaka) said that at the end of 2015 the target of 15,000 units of Selangorku Homes can be built.

“This year alone, nine Selangorku Homes projects received planning permission (PP) involving 11,833 housing units. Out of this, five projects were launched involving 7,005 units of affordable housing (RMM).

“We welcome cooperation from private developers to achieve the objective of building 35,000 units by 2018,” he said during the winding-up speech at the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) session today.

In other developments, Iskandar explained that the construction project of Selangorku Homes are concentrated in urban areas because of high demand by the people.

“In order to guarantee low and reasonable prices, the location needs to be strategic and near public transportation system because the construction will not involve a high infrastructure cost.

“These are among the reasons why the Selangorku Homes project is concentrated in urban areas,” he said.

Iskandar said that the state government is also paying attention to the people in rural areas who want to own Selangorku Homes.

“So far, there is a project being developed by Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB) in Ladang Air Manis, which is expected to start construction at the end of this year and fully completed in 2018,” he said.
