SHAH ALAM, 25 Apr: The Selangor Flood Mitigation Committee has reviewed the Rumah Asam Ladang Baru area in Kampung Chempedak which was hit by a mudslide earlier this week.
The Exco for Infrastructure, Public Amenities and Agro-Based Industries, Zaidy Abdul Talib, said that the cause of the incident was because the developer’s water retention pond near the area broke during heavy rain.
According to him, the report was submitted to the committee and follow-up action was decided against the developer involved.
“We have visited the area with all agencies, including the developer, to view the area.
“Follow-up reviews and discussions will also be held to ensure that the developer takes action.
“We do not want this event to recur,” he told Selangor Kini.
In the event, a number of homes and business premises were damaged by the mudslide.
Heavy rain in the evening caused the water from the retention pond to overflow.
