MBI gives RM1 million Zakat to Kelantan

KUALA KRAI, 17 June: Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) today resolved to contribute Zakat worth RM1 million to the Kelantan government.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that it is to help alleviate Kelantan’s limitations in rebuilding infrastructure and people’s housing which were destroyed by the floods.

“The Zakat worth RM1 million is to cover some flood-related reconstruction projects.

“This is a cooperation between the two states as well as strategic planning related to investment, tourism and education in the future,” he said during the Desa Darul Ehsan House Keys Presentation ceremony here at Manik Urai.

The Selangor government built 60 prefabricated housing units (Darul Ehsan Homes) at a cost of almost RM6 million for the victims of the flood that took place in December.

It is being developed by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) and the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS).

Prior to this, the Selangor government donated RM1 million to the Kelantan government at the Telipot Mosque, Kota Bharu, when visiting the flood victim relief centres on December 26.

During the ceremony, the Chief Minister of Kelantan, Datuk Ahmad Yaakob, expressed appreciation for the concern shown by the Selangor government.

“This ongoing assistance created history for relations between the two states. It will not be forgotten,” he said.
