Azmin: Remember Anwar’s struggle, maintain spirit of unity

BATU CAVES, 17 Sept: Pakatan Rakayat (PR) should maintain the spirit of unity in the effort to overthrow Barisan Nasional (BN) in the next election in order to meet the aspirations of the people who are hungry for change.

The PKR Deputy President, Mohamed Azmin Ali, admitted that Pakatan is now facing problems, but the role played by the party’s de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, must be remembered for being able to form a strong opposition coalition.

He said that PKR should play a role in strengthening Pakatan which was once built as an Alternative Front (Barisan Alternative or BA) with an inclusive and moderate approach in all things.

“No political party would successfully defeat BN without strong and firm unity. We cannot be alone and the social reality in Malaysia need to recognise the fact that by taking the inclusive and moderate approach is the way to overthrow BN and defend Pakatan,” he said.

He said that the Pakatan component or other parties have to manage unity well for the continuity of cooperation in bringing about change.

Mohamed Azmin, who is also the Chief Minister of Selangor, also hopes that cooperation and commitment by PAS, DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) or other individuals who want to overthrow BN will be made easier in the forthcoming general election.
