Red shirt rally has no spirit in the formation of Malaysia

BATU CAVES, 17 Sept: The PKR Deputy President, Mohamed Azmin Ali, cynically said that the red shirt rally is not in sync with the formation of Malaysia because the foundation was built through the spirit of unity by the first Prime Minister, the late Tunku Abdul Rahman.

He said that the inclusion of Sabah and Sarawak at the time showed all colours uniting for the formation of Malaysia on September 16, 1963.

“If the young generation today can appreciate the history of the formation of Malaysia, this rally would certainly not happen for one colour only.We should celebrate Malaysia Day with all colours and people regardless of race to maintain the country’s dignity and sovereignty,” he said yesterday.

Mohamed Azmin, who is also the Gombak Branch Chief, said that it is regrettable that there are people still being narrow about race which has led to the country’s development being stunted.

He said that the people should rise up and break down the walls of racism and injustice to free the country which is facing a leadership and economic crisis.

At the same time, he also appreciated the officers at the Gombak Branch that have made PKR one of the strongest parties in Malaysia.
