Hadi: PAS election won by professionals

KUALA SELANGOR, 5 June: The PAS President, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, rejected allegations that the list of those who won this time was only in favour of the clergy.

Instead, he said that it is also in favour of professionals, including a former lecturer at a university.

“When looking at the list, there not only clerics, but many professionals like Dr Abdul Hasan and Rahman Zakaria (former Deputy Director of the Immigration Malaysia).

“There is room in the PAS constitution to appoint the Secretary-General, Deputy Secretary, Head of Information and so on which are appointed by the Central PAS committee,” he said at a press conference at the 61st PAS Annual Conference at the Kuala Selangor Indoor Stadium today.

Abdul Hadi said that it is too early to assume that non-Muslims will reject PAS following the majority victory of clergies in the party election.

He said that he received a positive response from people from all walks of life, including non-Muslims.

“We do not yet know their choice because there is still a long time, I received response from people from all walks of life, including non-Muslims, who have shown a positive response, not just negative.

“There is no need to score (rate) yet because it is still too early,” he said.
