Chief Minister: Additional CCTV for Shah Alam Stadium to be ready in October

SHAH ALAM, 14 SEP: The installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in Shah Alam Stadium is scheduled to be completed this October before the Selangor Sultan Cup.

Chief Minister, Dato’ Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the Shah Alam City Council commenced installation works even before the riot happened.

He said the action was taken as a precautionary measure in the stadium premises, especially involving spectators’ actions.

“As many as 80 CCTVs were installed before the incident, showing that we care about safety issues.

“We expect everything to be completed in October and that this is helpful in the event that such incidents occur again,” he said to reporters.

He was met following the completion of the cornerstone laying ceremony of the Darul Ehsan Medical Centre (DEMC) Women’s and Children’s Hospital here today.

Earlier, the Mayor, Datuk Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saad, said that RM2.2 million was allocated for installation of the 80 CCTVs.

On 8 September, the Malaysia – Saudi Arabia World Cup 2018 Qualifiers were disrupted by fans who hurled flares, smoke bombs and fireworks.
