Three premises demolished, failed to comply with MPK Act 133

SHAH ALAM, 19 June: The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) demolished an illegal building structure at Lot 317, 318 and 321 in Section 2, Jalan Beringin, Port Klang, recently.

The Yang DiPertua of MPK, Datuk Mohamad Yacob, said that the action was taken after the owner of the premises was stubborn and failed to comply with the prescribed instruction despite notice being issued since 2013.

“This operation was carried out against the idle unit that was suspected of carrying out unhealthy activities such as prostitution and drugs. It is also the venue where young people sniff glue.

“At the same time, it is done to ensure that public safety is assured because the location is no longer safe,” he said.

Mohamad said that the action was taken under Section 72, Street, Drain and Building Act (Act 133) for erecting a building without MPK approval.

“MPK gave sufficient time to the owner to demolish the building himself, but he failed to do so.

“It is also based on public complaints, especially local residents who objected to the existence of the illegal structure and asked for decisive action to be taken against those involved,” he said in a statement.

He said that MPK will also take decisive action to demolish illegal structures erected without permission, especially against owners who refuse to cooperate after two notices are issued.

“The notice under Section 70 of the Street, Drain and Building Act (Act 133) has been issued on October 28, 2013, while the second notice was issued on June 7, 2014.

“This operation is to remind the people of Klang to respect the laws set involving the construction of building structures. It also received support form the police, SYABAS and TNB,” he said.
