SHAH ALAM, 19 June: In order to ensure the success of the Care For Our Planet Campaign by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) organised the Bring Your Own Container to Ramadan Bazaars that offers a cash prize of RM3,000 to 10 lucky traders.
This programme aims to improve the quality of bazaars and reduce the use of plastic and polystyrene in their business.
The Subang Jaya Municipal Council Yang Dipertua, Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan, said that among the criteria set is the grade rating, free from enforcement action, implementing the green initiative involving the use of reusable bags, biodegradable plastic and free from polystyrene.
“Ten bazaar traders who adopt this campaign will receive RM300 each and a certificate of appreciation,” he said at the launch of the programme today.
At the same time, Nor Hisham said that MPSJ will also implement the Used Cooking Oil Collection programme in collaboration with Syarikat Fathopes Energy Sdn Bhd by providing cooking oil barrels at 18 selected locations for recycling.
“The collected cooking oil will be sent to the Biomas Centre before being made into biodiesel. MPSJ hopes that traders will cooperate, in addition to caring for the environment,” he said.
