CM: Selangor IPTs should produce graduates that create jobs

SHAH ALAM, 21 Sept: The University of Selangor (UNISEL) and the Selangor Islamic University College (KUIS) should play a role in producing graduates that create new job opportunities and not just wait for opportunities.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that Selangor should move in the direction to create better job opportunities without having to rely on foreign workers to confront the increasingly complex economic challenges.

“Selangor will not progress if we are heavily dependent on foreign workers. Nearly 37 percent of the labour in the country are foreigners.

“Therefore, UNISEL and KUIS should produce more graduates who can create job opportunities and not wait for work to be offered,” he said.

He said this when delivering his keynote address at the Selangor State Government Secretary Departments Monthly Assembly at the Silver Jubilee Hall today.

He said that Selangor is more selective in choosing investments and priority would definitely be given to high-technology industries that are sustainable with the challenges.

Mohamed Azmin said that government departments also need to use digital technology in total to facilitate matters and management of data information.

He said that government departments needs to act more effectively to realise the desire to male Selangor a smart state.
