PETALING JAYA, 25 Aug: A total of 6 premises were seized by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) in an enforcement operation where the businesses failed to renew their licences (Ops Lesen) at The Curve shopping mall in Mutiara Damansara, Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, today.
The MBPJ Deputy Mayor, Anuar Johary, said that MBPJ also issued three RM200 compounds against premises that failed to display their business licences.
“Overall, 159 locations were checked and 13 premises had still not renewed their licences, while 61 other premises cancelled their businesses.
“Confiscated goods were worth at least RM1,000 and business owners were instructed to closed their businesses until their licences were renewed.
“Stern action had to be taken against traders who refused to renew their licences because they were given until October last year,” he said during the Ops Lesen operation at The Curve, Petaling Jaya.
Ops Lesen today also involved 40 MBPJ members from the Enforcement and Safety Department, the Licensing Department and the Technical Department.
Anuar Johary said that Ops Lesen is a follow up from September 22, 2014, where MBPJ sent license renewal notices to 41,738 licensees to remind them to renew their licenses.
“From the beginning of the year until August 2015, 12,847 premises have been checked and we found 3,174 premises to be closed and not operating.
“MBPJ also issued 3,970 compounds and 468 premises were seized, including the operations carried out today,” he said.
