Every district to have a retail square

SHAH ALAM, 27 Aug: Every district in Selangor has been targeted to have a retail square of 0.2 hectares and is currently in the process of identifying appropriate areas.

The Exco for Islamic Affairs, Malay Customs and Heritage, Rural Development and Traditional Villages, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, said that a fund of RM150,000 for each district has been approved to build the square.

“It is hoped that the plan to build the square can be implemented this year,” he said.

According to him, the square will be equipped with complete facilities to enable the public to shop there.

“We will provide toilet and prayer rooms for the public.

“It is like a night market, but when it comes to the time for Maghrib, traders and visitors can perform prayers,” he said.

He said that the effort to create the square will use funds from the Rural Entrepreneur Trust Fund.

Yunus previously performed the closing ceremony and the presentation of the Selangor State Petaling District Short Term Skills Course Programme 2015.

“The funds have been approved at the state government level. Now, we are only identifying suitable government land to build this square.

“Although the fund approved is not for current allocations, but I want the implementation to happen this year,” he said.
