Mahfuz: DEIG is transparent, 1MDB lost its ‘bait’

SHAH ALAM, 24 Aug: The issue of the establishment of Darul Ehsan Investment Group (DEIG) has opened up space for the people to see the openness and transparency of the Selangor government in carrying out checks and balances, said the Pokok Sena MP, Datuk Mahfuz Omar.

He said that this was proven when the Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, was open if the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) intends to investigate DEIG.

He is also convinced that Mohamed Azmin has no objections to the Selangor Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to do the same and extend its findings for the knowledge of the Selangor DUN session.

“Unfortunately, the Selangor Umno-BN has rejected the appointment of an Umno Assemblyman as the Chairman of the PAC.

“In fact, I believe that if the Auditor General, Bank Negara and other authorities want to investigate the DEIG issue that was raised, it would certainly be welcomed by Azmin.

“The Pakatan government in Selangor is so open and transparent in implementing the checks and balance process. Unlike the existence of 1MDB where the cabinet members themselves were not informed,” he said in a press statement today.

Mahfuz also welcomed involved agencies to play their respective roles and investigate DEIG if there is any doubt.

“This means that there is no longer any breach of trust therefore making statement stating the stance of investigation agencies is understanding that Umno leaders are not bale to differentiate the 1MDB and DEIG issues.

“What is clear is that there is already a case against 1MDB and Najib, when to prosecute. Attorney General, please answer soon,” he said.
