Instill love for language, young children invited for storytelling

SHAH ALAM, 13 Oct: Pre-school and primary school children storytelling clearly was humorous and enlivened the Comedy Storytelling Competition at the Raja Tun Uda Library on October 7.

The competition that was organised by the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) is aimed at instilling a sense of love and pride for the Malay language.

Its Director, Mastura Muhamad, said that it is among the programmes by PPAS in conjunction with the National Language Month (BBK) involving the participation of everyone in national language and literature.

“This programme is designed to highlight the function and role of the national language and literature as one of the pillars of civilization and nation.

“It also enhances and strengthens unity among the people, especially among the people in Selangor and its surrounding areas,” she told Selangor Kini.

In the pre-school category, the contest was won by Nur Afiqah Qistina Simar from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Batu Unjur with the story ‘Si Tanggang Anak Derhaka’.

Meanwhile, Nur Aliah Najihah Mohd Khanizam from SK Lubok Kelubi with the story ‘Takar Emas’ won the primary school category.

The winner took home cash prize, plaques and participation certificates presented by Dr Mohd Hanafi Ibrahim as the Chairman of the Arts Research Division Chief and Chairman of the BBK Coordinating Committee 2015.
